Eddie has sights on International glory

ENGLISH Greyhound Derby winner Lennies Eddie heads a star studded line up chasing a first prize of 20,000 euro to the winner of Time Dundalk International this Sunday night.
Trained by Paul Hennessy for Lee Craze, the April 24 son of Good Cody and Portumna Marina defied odds of 10/1 to land the £125,000 Towcester showpiece back in early June.
The Derby champion warmed up for his tilt at the International title with an impressive 29.58 trial around the Co Louth venue on July 3.
In a race of six seeded inside runners, Eddie has touched for the plum draw in trap one and is sure to be well supported in the ring to take full advantage of the red cover.
The Time Dundalk International is the most prestigious one off race in the greyhound calendar and it is no surprise that the Derby winner will be taking no fewer than two track record holders
The John Kennedy trained Epic Ace set new fractions when whizzing around Towcester back in May clocking a sensational 28.14.
His most recent outing was in the semi final of the Champion Stakes in Shelbourne where he enjoyed no luck in running.
A runner from the Michael Donovan kennel can never be underestimated and in Ballycowen Frank(trap five) he has another serious contender for the top prize. A winner of eight races, Frank posted a record time of 29.11 for 550 yards in Tralee.
Ballymac Ralf (trap three) finished behind Eddie in the Derby Final and will have to improve on a recent 29.92 trial spin in preparation for the big night.
Singalong Polly, trained by Pat Buckley, is in the form of her life having completed a hat trick of victories over the extended 750 yards at Shelbourne . She will certainly will be staying on best up the hill.
The final six is completed by the Robert Gleeson trained Toolmaker King, a dog a real quality in his own right but from the wide outside will have it all to do.
An eleven race card kicks off at 19.50 with the Dundalk Derby Trial and also includes a number of Open Races and Sweepstake Finals.
The Greyhound action is part of a dual raceday which also features Ladies Day on the horse track with the action here due to get underway at 2.00pm.
The trap draw for the Time Dundalk International is as follows:
Trap 1 – Lennies Eddie
Trap 2 – Singalong Polly
Trap 3 – Ballymac Ralf
Trap 4 -Epic Ace
Trap 5 – Ballycowen Frank
Trap 6 – Toolmaker King
