Horse Racing & Greyhound Racing


This section offers dedicated information for our horse owners and trainers. We hope the information in this section answers many of the questions you may have prior to racing at Dundalk Stadium.


Admission Passes & Entrance

The owners and trainers entrance is located at the main turnstiles. Please have your AIR pass ready to swipe at the stand in order to gain complimentary admission (pending your horse is running).

There is an allocation of 4 passes; however, if you require additional ticketing, please contact the HRI Ownership Department directly: www.racehorseownership.ie/tickets

Owners & Trainers Lounge

There is an owners and trainer lounge reserved exclusively for the use of owners and trainers with a runner on the day; it is situated on the upper level of Dundalk Stadium.

We provide complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits within this area.

There are two screens located within the lounge showing racing at home and away.


Dining Facilities

All owners and trainers with a declared runner on race day are entitled to a discounted dining package within ‘Champions’ Restaurant’ at Dundalk Stadium.

Dundalk Stadium has 130 boxes that will be allocated upon arrival. Bedding is provided for horses at all race meetings (both paper and woodchip).


If you wish to stay overnight, please contact Laura on +353 (87) 0636758 to make arrangements. Bedding is provided for horses stabling overnight (both paper and woodchip). Hayage is also available.

Work on the track can be arranged for ‘overnighters; with prior consultation with grounds staff.

Gallops take place at Dundalk Stadium on Tuesday and Sunday each week.

Tuesday: 9am-4pm
Sunday: 9am-12pm

Both ‘Yielding Ground’ and ‘Good Ground’ is provided – please refer to ‘The Irish Field’ for weekly confirmation of ground.

All riders must mount and dismount on the all-weather track during gallops.

All riders must wear proofed helmets, back supports and riding boots.

As of Friday 20th March onwards Top gate will close at 8.50pm sharp on Friday night’s after horse racing & 7.10pm sharp on Friday & Saturday night’s when there is only greyhound racing.


Weigh in (Friday 23rd February) is 8.15PM to 8.50PM

  • Friday evenings – 6.30pm to 7.20pm
  • Friday evenings following horse racing – 8.20pm to 8.50pm
  • Saturday evenings – 6.30pm to 7.20pm



  • Every effort will be made to ensure that Greyhounds entered at Dundalk Stadium participate in a race within 28 days after entry. Failing this, it is the racing manager’s intention to ensure that no greyhound goes out of time.
  • Racing will not be guaranteed for any greyhound entered after 28 days of its last line of form.
  • Race Cards are completed and published by 10am the morning before each race day. Owners and trainers are advised to either:
  1. Check for runners on the morning of the race date.
  2. Where the newspaper fails to carry the race card, it is advisable to ring the Racing Office.
  • All non-runners must be reported to the Racing Office between 9am and 1pm on the race date. Reported non-runners after this time will be asked to pay the €10 entry fee if a suitable reserve cannot be found.
  • Private Trial bookings are taken at 2pm every Tuesday. Due to demand, Trials cannot be guaranteed to any Owner or Trainer.
  • Any Greyhound, who, in the opinion of the Racing Stewards present at the meeting has run unsatisfactorily, may be tested. Owners and trainers are expected to comply with the wishes of the racing stewards.
  • After a greyhound has run in a race, the Racing Office would appreciate if the owner or trainer would inform the Racing Office of that greyhounds future availability.

  • Every Thursday morning
  • All dogs for official trials must be weighed in between 9.30am and 10.00am in Kennel Block.


Private Trials on Monday’s & Saturdays must be pre-booked.

  • If any greyhound runs out of wrong trap the trial is automatically void.
  • From the 1st August 2016 any greyhound without a microchip can not be not be accepted for racing.
  • If you still need microchipping done please contact Leo Temple on 085 8019330 or your local ICC steward.
  • If your dog has been microchipped by vet/dog warden etc. please contact the racing office as greyhounds can not be accepted for racing until IGB database is updated.
